Time Made Visible: Charles Eliot and the Planning of the Boston Metropolitan Parks

Late in the nineteenth century, landscape architect Charles Eliot conceived of a visionary network of parks throughout the Boston metropolitan region. His innovative planning method merged science and scenery to reveal the “deep past” of geologic features, which framed a geographically diverse regional park system.
